How a chess game ends in a draw


   There are several ways in which a chess game can end up in a draw, or tie. These include the following:

Draw by stalemate

Draw by insufficient material

Draw by 3-fold repetition of position

Draw by perpetual check

Draw by 50 move rule

Draw by mutual agreement

In tournament play, when a game in drawn, each player is awarded half a point.
